On Sunday, the Hugh J. White Chapter members introduced 15 young men to the legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen and the principles of flight through the=hands-on use of small drones. The abbreviated two-hour program was a taste of the fifteen hour program that was held in the summer of 2022. Students discussed the forces of flight, the need for clear communication, and career opportunities in the aviation world. The program culminated in a drone flying competition. The youth came from the Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. The Kappa League of young men were supported by the cheers of their parents who created the dimensions of the race-track by standing in each corner with courage instead of orange cones. Others were time-keepers. The drone pilots conquered the course with encouragement of thunderous crowd shouts of “now go straight, climb and oh no…not the wall” as drones crunched inanimate objects. The drones were tough and survived the ordeal, living to fly again with your group.
